Quantifiers (information can be found in articles and names and quantifiers, determiners and predeterminers) are syntactic elements introducing NPs. They correspond to mathematical expressions from a semantic point of view.


Quantifiers provide utterances with as much exactness and precision as is needed. Two examples are given below:

Example 1

a. Guon jonges wiene te let
some boys were too late
Some boys were too late
b. Fjouwer famkes laken
four girls laughed
Four girls laughed
